Clipper
Founded 1984 in Dorset. The world's first Fairtrade-certified tea brand.
Shop now →The story
In 1994, Clipper became one of the first three companies in the UK to carry the Fairtrade mark. Today it is the world's largest Fairtrade tea brand, supporting more than 114,000 producers across estates in Assam, Sri Lanka, and East Africa. The teabags themselves are unbleached, non-GMO, plant-based, and fully biodegradable, an industry first that took years to engineer. The thing that has not changed since 1984 is the brief: source ethically, blend properly, package without plastic.
We started Clipper because we knew where the tea we were drinking came from, and we did not want to be part of that anymore. Pay growers properly, blend well, and the rest sorts itself out.Mike and Lorraine Brehme, Clipper Teas Founders
What makes them different
-
01
Fairtrade Pioneer
One of the first three UK companies to carry the Fairtrade mark in 1994. Today it is the world's largest Fairtrade tea brand, supporting over 114,000 producers and the schools, clinics, and water projects funded by the Fairtrade premium.
-
02
Plastic-Free Bags
Clipper engineered the first plant-based, unbleached, fully biodegradable, non-GMO heat-sealed teabag. No plastic in the bag, no chlorine bleach in the paper. The packet itself is recyclable.
-
03
Organic Sourcing
The organic range is certified by the Soil Association. Estates grow without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, which protects the soil and the people who work on it.
-
04
Dorset-Blended
Tea is still blended in Beaminster, Dorset. Forty years of recipes refined in the same place by people who have worked with the same estates for decades.

Touring the range
Three doorways into the brand: entry, classic, specialty.
Everyday herbal staples
If you are new to Clipper, start with the two herbal teas that cover most household use cases: Lemon and Ginger for daily immune and digestive support, and Mighty Mint for after meals. Both organic, both caffeine-free.

Wellness blends
Once the staples are in rotation, the targeted blends solve specific problems. Snore and Peace for sleep, Detox for liver support, Orange and Turmeric for inflammation. One blend, one purpose, no synthetic flavours.

Single-origin and chai
Indian Chai, White Tea and Raspberry, Berry Burst. The teas where Clipper's blending heritage and forty years of estate relationships actually show up in the cup.
