The story

Terra Nova was founded in 2008 by Stephen Terrass, a UK nutritionist with a forty-year career in nutritional science and over 500 lectures across 21 countries. Terrass built Terra Nova around a single conviction: most supplement brands rely on isolated, synthetic nutrients backed up by industrial fillers, binders, and flow agents. Terra Nova would do the opposite. Every formula combines a clean active with Magnifood, the brand's synergistic complex of freeze-dried whole foods, herbs, and mushrooms that surround the active to mimic the way nutrients arrive in real food.

The philosophy shows up on the label. No fillers, no binders, no flow agents, no disintegrants, no manufacturing additives of any kind. Every product is 100 percent vegan-suitable. Many botanicals are certified organic or ethically wildcrafted. In 2021 Terra Nova won the UK Queen's Award for Enterprise (International Trade). It is the supplement brand that other supplement formulators read.
Nutrients work in synergy in food. We formulate supplements that respect that biology, with no additives, no compromise, and Magnifood in every cap.

What makes them different

  • 01

    Magnifood Synergy

Every Terra Nova product pairs the active nutrient with a Magnifood complex of freeze-dried whole foods, herbs, and mushrooms. The complex mimics the nutrient context found in real food and supports absorption and bioactivity.

  • 02

    No Fillers Or Binders

Almost unique among supplement brands of this scale, Terra Nova uses zero fillers, binders, flow agents, disintegrants, or manufacturing additives. What you see on the label is what is in the capsule.

  • 03

    100% Vegan

Every product is suitable for vegans. Capsules are plant cellulose, sources are botanical or fermented, and nothing in the range relies on animal-derived ingredients.

  • 04

    Whole-Food Sourcing

Primary botanical inputs come from a 90-acre certified organic herb farm in Oregon and other audited organic and wildcrafted suppliers. The traceability is unusually deep for a supplement of this size.

About this brand

Common questions customers ask about the brand and its products.

What is Magnifood?
Magnifood is Terra Nova's signature synergy complex: freeze-dried whole foods, herbs, and mushrooms added to each product to surround the primary active with the cofactors and phytonutrients that accompany that nutrient in real food. The argument is that nutrients in nature never arrive isolated, and supplements that respect that context absorb and act differently to single-actives in a filler base. It is also why Terra Nova capsules are often larger than competitor caps; the Magnifood complex takes space.
Why is the prenatal more expensive than supermarket prenatals?
Three reasons. Clean folate (5-MTHF, not synthetic folic acid) costs more than the cheaper form. Gentle iron forms cost more than ferrous sulphate. No fillers means the capsules are full of active and Magnifood, not bulked out with maltodextrin and dicalcium phosphate. You are paying for the formulation discipline.
Is Terra Nova safe to take with other supplements?
Yes, for most combinations. The Magnifood complex is whole-food based, so stacking with separate vitamin D, omega-3, or probiotics is straightforward. For prenatal specifically, do not double up on a separate folate or iron supplement unless your GP or obstetrician advises it.
Are the capsules vegan?
Yes. Plant cellulose (HPMC) capsules across the entire Terra Nova range. Suitable for vegans, vegetarians, halaal, and kosher diets.
What does 'no fillers' actually mean?
It means no magnesium stearate, no silicon dioxide, no maltodextrin, no dicalcium phosphate, no titanium dioxide, no shellac coating. These ingredients are added by most supplement manufacturers to make tableting faster or capsules cheaper. Terra Nova accepts a slower, smaller-batch manufacturing process to leave them out.
How does Terra Nova compare to Solgar or Viridian?
All three are clean-supplement brands. Solgar is older and broader in catalogue. Viridian is UK-based and similarly additive-conscious. Terra Nova is distinguished by Magnifood (the synergy complex) and the rigour around zero manufacturing additives. The right choice depends on the specific formula you need and which one your practitioner prefers.
How long until I notice a difference?
For prenatal use, the goal is steady-state nutrient sufficiency rather than a felt effect; consistency over months is what matters. For energy or hormonal support formulas, expect 6 to 12 weeks of daily use before judging.
