Crede
Founded 1989 in Grahamstown. South Africa's cold-pressed oil specialists for two generations.
Shop now →The story
The family business is now run by two of the Credé sons from a facility in Strand, Western Cape. The range has expanded to more than twenty cold-pressed oils plus the OhMega nut butter line, but the method has not changed. Cold-pressing means the seed or nut is mechanically crushed at low temperature so the oil retains its colour, aroma, and unsaturated fat profile. Heat-extracted and solvent-extracted oils are cheaper to produce and have a longer shelf life, but they lose the things that make the oil worth buying. Credé has stayed cold-pressed for thirty-five years because the alternative is not really the same product.
We pressed oil alongside our children's homework on weekends and during school holidays. Two of those children run the business now. The oils are still cold-pressed the same way.The Credé Family, Credé Natural Oils
What makes them different
-
01
Cold-Pressed Method
Oils are mechanically pressed at low temperature. No heat, no chemical solvents, no deodorising. The colour, aroma, and unsaturated fat profile of the original seed or nut are preserved.
-
02
Second-Generation Family
Founded by Jutta and Helfried Credé in 1989. Now run by two of their sons from Strand, Western Cape. Thirty-five years of pressing experience in the same family.
-
03
South African Jojoba Pioneers
Credé planted South Africa's first commercial jojoba plantation outside Bathurst in 1984. Desert Sun Jojoba Oil was the founding product and is still in the range.

04
Organic Where It Counts
The organic range carries certified-organic seal from independent auditors. Across the rest of the range, sourcing prioritises non-GMO and traceable suppliers, with cold-pressing as the universal standard.

Crede Organic Castor Oil 500ml
R175.00
The 500ml workhorse. Used for hair growth packs, eyelash and brow conditioning, and as a heavy carrier for lymphatic massage. The organic certification matters here because castor is absorbed through the skin.

Crede Black Cumin Oil 100ml
R99.00
Nigella sativa cold-pressed oil. Taken orally (one teaspoon daily) for immune and inflammatory support, or used topically on skin. The taste is sharp and bitter, which is the point.

Lower-glycaemic alternative to white sugar. Granular, dissolves in baking, retains the mineral content of the coconut palm sap. Used spoon-for-spoon as a sugar replacement.

Touring the range
Three doorways into the brand: entry, classic, specialty.
The kitchen staples
If Credé is new to your shelf, start with the two oils that earn their place in daily cooking: Organic Olive Oil and Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. Both cold-pressed, both certified organic, both versatile enough to use across most recipes.

The therapeutic oils
Once the kitchen is sorted, the oils that earn shelf space in the bathroom take over. Castor for hair and lymphatic massage, Jojoba for facial skincare, Sweet Almond as a gentle body carrier. Each one solves a specific use case.

The high-spec oils
Black Cumin oil (nigella sativa) for immune and skin support, and raw almond flour for low-carb baking. These are the products where the cold-press method changes what you can actually do with the ingredient.
