- Ferrous fumarate
- Highly bioavailable iron form, better tolerated than ferrous sulphate by most people. Provides elemental iron for red blood cell production.
- Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
- Converts dietary iron from ferric (Fe3+) to ferrous (Fe2+) form, the absorbable state. Co-administration significantly raises iron uptake in the duodenum.
- Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin)
- Works alongside iron for red blood cell maturation. Combined B12 and iron deficiency is common in vegan and vegetarian diets.
- Microcrystalline cellulose (bulking)
- Inactive carrier providing tablet structure.
Who is it for?
Menstruating women with heavy periods, vegetarians, vegans, pregnant women (with practitioner guidance), athletes, blood donors, and anyone with documented mild iron deficiency or low ferritin levels.
Why use it?
Most iron supplements use ferrous sulphate, which causes nausea and constipation for many. Ferrous fumarate is gentler with similar absorption, and the vitamin C in the same tablet raises uptake.
When to use it
Morning on an empty stomach with vitamin C. Take 2 hours before or after meals containing tea, coffee, calcium or dairy (all reduce iron absorption).
How to use it
1 tablet daily on an empty stomach with water. If GI upset occurs, take with a small meal but expect slightly lower absorption.
