- Water-soluble vitamin that becomes thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP) in the body. TPP is a cofactor for pyruvate dehydrogenase, alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase and transketolase, which together drive cellular energy production and pentose phosphate pathway activity.

Adults with unexplained fatigue, those with history of high alcohol intake (alcohol depletes thiamine fast), people on diuretics (diuretics increase thiamine loss), and those eating restricted carbohydrate diets.
