What is actually happening
The like-cures-like principle
Homeopathy is built on the idea that a substance that causes specific symptoms in a healthy person can, in dilute form, help the body respond to those same symptoms when ill. Coffea (coffee) preparations for restlessness, Apis (bee) for stings and swelling.
Dilution and succussion
Remedies are prepared by serial dilution with vigorous shaking (succussion) at each step. The result is a preparation with very low material concentration, which is why side effects and interactions are minimal compared with conventional medicines.
Support, not replacement
Homeopathy works best as part of a broader picture: rest, nutrition, and conventional care when conditions warrant it. It is not a substitute for antibiotics in serious infection, insulin in diabetes, or emergency care.
Common potencies explained
You will see 6C, 30C, and 200C on packaging. The number is dilution steps; C means a 1:100 dilution at each step. 6C and 30C are common household potencies. Higher potencies (200C, 1M) are typically used with a practitioner.
