Substitute with
Cannot be substituted with regular honey for medicinal use. MGO 540+ is a specific antimicrobial grade. For sweetening, any honey works; for the antimicrobial effects manuka is famous for, the MGO rating must be 100+.

Sealed glass jar, cool dry place. Manuka honey lasts indefinitely if kept dry and sealed. Never refrigerate (causes crystallisation, doesn't extend life).
Source and milling
Made by bees feeding on the manuka plant (Leptospermum scoparium), native to New Zealand. The MGO (methylglyoxal) content develops naturally from dihydroxyacetone in the manuka nectar and is what distinguishes manuka from regular honey.
